Read the Full Story: The Lion and the Mouse
Once upon a time, in a deep dark forest, there lived a mighty lion — the king of the jungle. Everyone feared him and nobody dared go near his cave.
One day, after a hearty meal, the lion stretched, yawned, and fell fast asleep in his cave.
Not far away, a tiny mouse was busy searching for food. She nibbled, sniffed, and squeaked her way into the cave without realizing where she was. By accident, she ran right across the lion’s nose!
The lion woke up with a roar.
“Who dares to disturb me?” he growled.
“Forgive me, Your Majesty,” squeaked the mouse. “Please let me go. Someday, I promise, I will help you.”
The lion laughed loudly.
“You? So small? Help me? That is impossible!”
But since he was not hungry, he spared the little mouse’s life.
Days later, hunters set a trap in the forest. The lion was caught in a huge net. He roared and struggled, but he could not escape.
Just then, the same little mouse appeared. She remembered her promise. Using her sharp teeth, she nibbled and gnawed at the ropes until the net tore open. The lion was free!
The lion looked at the tiny mouse with gratitude.
“Thank you, my little friend,” he said. “Today you have taught me that no one is too small to make a difference.”
And from that day on, the lion and the mouse became the best of friends.
