Even as Oracle’s sweeping layoffs rattled thousands globally, they have triggered a parallel hiring surge, with IT firms and recruiters tapping into the suddenly available talent pool.

In a 6 a.m. email on Tuesday, Oracle laid off 30,000 employees globally, with 12,000 impacted in India. Many took to social media to share their experiences. However, in a show of support, professionals across other organisations expressed solidarity while highlighting job opportunities within their own companies.

Executives and recruiters from firms such as Wipro, Amazon, Mastek and Birlasoft have taken to social media to signal active hiring as they scale their Oracle-focused practices.

The hiring push spans multiple enterprise functions—including Oracle Fusion, HCM, supply chain, and finance—and extends to technology and leadership roles such as SDEs, SDMs and TPMs. The messaging suggests a coordinated effort to absorb talent from the market, particularly amid layoffs, while strengthening capabilities around Oracle ecosystems.

Neelabh Shukla, Chief Business Officer, Careernet, observed that as large corporates rationalise headcount globally, their GCCs in India are not insulated from these shifts. What’s happening at Oracle is a reflection of this broader trend.

At the same time, this creates a dual dynamic. While it signals a slowdown for some organisations, it is enabling others to accelerate by tapping into displaced talent.

“We’re seeing growing interest from employers in onboarding intact teams – spanning across managers, architects, and core members, allowing them to bring in proven capability and working synergy, and in some cases, fast-track maturity by a few quarters,” he said.

In high demand

He added that the outlook for affected talent remains strong, especially for high-skill roles, as organisations continue to value ready, experienced teams that can drive immediate impact.

Similarly, Sidharth Thakur, Director, Grassik Search, shared, “Such re-structuring exercises, while not new, reflect on a broader future trend towards widespread AI-based automation coupled with relatively lean and high-performing teams. However, there can be a host of career opportunities not just from IT and Tech, but also from alternate sectors, including Auto, Logistics and BFSI. Professionals with relevant skills such as data analytics, digital transformation and even those in support functions will do well across sectors.”

Ankit Aggarwal, the founder of Unstop, explained that when professionals come out of companies like Oracle, they bring rigour, exposure and a deep understanding of systems that work. This is an opportunity for start-ups to access talent that has seen scale, complexity and global benchmarks up close.
