Puzzle fans, rejoice, as WordGlyph is now available on both iOS and Android. It was originally released on desktop – but there’s nothing better than being able to play a game on the go.
If you didn’t know, WordGlyph was a proud nominee for the 2025 Webby Awards’ Puzzle & Trivia category, so it’s certainly doing something right.
There’s a learning curve when you first start playing, but once you crack the code (literally), you’ll become a pro at deduction.
Letters Become Simple Lines
It changes the way you look at letters, breaking them down into singular lines at various angles. You need to think about which lines make up each letter.
Deducing the incorrect letters by forming them with straight lines, whilst also trying to figure out which letters are correctly spelling out the word you’re looking for.
Naturally, the fewer lines you try out, the better your score is. However, using incorrect lines isn’t the end of the world, as they help you to deduce your options even further.
Getting a few wrong at times can, in fact, make it that little bit easier.
The only way to get an objectively bad score is by guessing the word wrong by typing it out. Using less green lines rather than black lines, the lower your score and the better.
There’s also the Unused bonus, which rewards you for how many lines you didn’t have to click. The combination of Correct, Wrong, and Unused means your score isn’t completely obliterated if you make a few mistakes. It’s quite forgiving.
Choose to Rely on Your Memory
Puzzle titles are a great way to pass the time whilst simultaneously challenging your brain when you have a spare moment.
WordGlyph is certainly one of the most unique out there, and it really does put your skills to the test. With the puzzle market being highly competitive these days, this game feels like a breath of fresh air, especially compared to other daily challenge titles.
For an extra challenge, you can switch Hard Mode on, which completely alters how the game plays. Instead of letters disappearing as you click correct and incorrect lines, you have to rely on your own memory.
The Archive and Progression
While WordGlyph features a new word every 24 hours, you can access The Archive, which houses hundreds of previous puzzles.
There are badges to earn as you climb the progression ranks, allowing you to show off your skills with other players. These badges are ranked as follows:
- Neophyte
- Beginner
- Rookie
- Apprentice
- Prodigy
- Expert
- Scholar
- Mastermind
- Grand Master
- Lucky Genius
You can find yourself on the leaderboard and check out the highest scores around the world too, as well as keep track of your achievements and your level via the profile screen.
The Lucky Genius achievement isn’t quite as difficult to nab as you’d think either – it largely requires skill and a small bit of luck. We never managed it (yet!), but once you play the game regularly you can hit it 8% of the time.
This ties into how there’s a great sense of community in WordGlyph too, which we found surprising but very welcome. You can always see the top solution for each day’s word for example, and compare your techniques to the top players – and improve your skills in future days as a result.
A No-brainer For a Brain-Puzzling Game
Go on, give WorldGlyph a go. With minimal ads or a one time fee to remove them, trying it out is a no-brainer.
Even if you don’t have much spare time for gaming, it’s easy to keep up with the daily words, which refresh every 24 hours. You’ll steadily make progress, making for a satisfying goal.
