The time to stare at Update 49 is over and the time to move forward is now for Elder Scrolls Online, which is certainly the primary thrust of ZeniMax Online Studios’ most recent developer stream, which talked about upcoming changes to class mastery, difficulty settings, and werewolves. That would be an odd blend for any other game, really.
The broadcast begins with those werewolf changes that are arriving in Update 50, which will include a refresh of its character model as well as a female model, updated combat abilities including a replacement of Piercing Howl with a bite attack, a reduced ultimate cost and planned tweaks to the cost of staying in werewolf form, and updates to its stats to allow magicka and stamina builds to wolf out equally.
The next topic is about class mastery passive updates that are also coming in Update 50. Some of the stated goals for this effort include a narrowing of the gap between subclassed and mono-classed characters and as a stopgap measure between class reworks. Players will be able to select two such passives per class from five choices without having to spend skill points, with several given examples of some of these passives.
Lastly, the devs confirm the overland challenge difficulty feature introduced this past January is also coming in Update 50. The devs once more go over how the system works, explain how it where it will and will not apply (you cannot make tutorials or dungeons harder), and further confirm that traps will also be affected by the system.
