Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has said comments made by Nigeria coach Eric Chelle about his club future were misunderstood and exaggerated.
Chelle recently explained that Osimhen was left out of the Super Eagles’ friendly matches against Poland and Portugal to allow him focus on a possible transfer during the summer window.
However, Osimhen has moved to clear the air, insisting that the coach’s remarks were taken out of context.
The Galatasaray forward said he spoke with Chelle and stressed that the coach has great respect for both him and the Turkish club.
“His words have been taken out of context and blown out of proportion,” Osimhen said.
“He has great respect for Galatasaray, follows most of our matches and never intended to create any controversy.”
Osimhen also praised Chelle, describing him as a great coach and expressing his desire to continue working with him.
The striker thanked fans for their support and urged them to ignore the speculation surrounding the matter.
