Nigeria’s leading track and field athletes will gather in Lagos later this month for the 2026 National Athletics Trials, scheduled to take place from June 20 to June 22 at the Yaba College of Technology Sports.
The event will serve as the official selection competition for athletes hoping to represent Nigeria at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
According to the programme released by the organisers, athletes and officials are expected to arrive on June 19. The competition will run for three days, from June 20 to June 22, while departure is fixed for June 23.
The trials are expected to attract some of the country’s best athletes, who will compete for places in Team Nigeria’s squad for the Commonwealth Games.
With places in the national team at stake, fans can expect strong competition as athletes battle to secure qualification and earn the chance to represent Nigeria on the international stage in Glasgow.
