Family-owned Redemption Brewing Company has entered administration. The firm’s assets are to be sold off by professionals from FRP Advisory.
When it launched in 2010, Redemption Brewing Company became the first commercial brewery to open in Tottenham for almost a century. Producing a core range of seven cask ale and three keg beers, including Big Chief IPA and Trinity pale ale, in the 16 years since, the firm has grown to operate a Match Day Taproom when local Premier League side Tottenham are playing at home.
The award-winning brewer supplies over 70 regular pubs in and around London and its cask ales are poured at The Antwerp Arms, the oldest working pub in Tottenham.
Recent years have seen the firm struggle with rising inflation, along with trade disruptions such as the pandemic. As a result, Redemption’s total deficit hit -£705,111 in 2024, rising from -£632,151 in 2023, corporate filings show. It recorded a net loss of £72,960 for the latest financial year.
A winding up petition – a legal manoeuvre to claw back unpaid sums due – was subsequently filed against Redemption in January from the HMRC, with a court showdown scheduled for February 2026. Amid this, FRP Advisory has been tasked with finding a suitable buyer as the firm’s administrator.
Philip David Reynolds and Anthony Collier, both of FRP, will serve as joint administrators for the company, while Redemption continues to trade.
A statement from FRP said its appointment “follows a sustained period of financial pressure on the business… Rising duty rates in recent years have placed a particular burden on independent brewers, who face a more challenging cost environment than larger national and international competitors.”
