Guwahati, June 17: With the NEET re-examination approaching, the Assam government has announced a series of stringent measures aimed at ensuring a fair, transparent and malpractice-free examination process across the state.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting with key stakeholders and law enforcement agencies, stressing that there would be “no compromise” with the future of students.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Sarma said the government had decided to plug every possible loophole and strengthen security at all levels.
“We have decided to take strict measures to ensure there are no loopholes in the entire process. Police officials will continue monitoring and ensure that the examination is conducted in a free and fair manner,” he said.
Among the key measures announced is a double-layer frisking system for all candidates appearing for the examination. Authorities have also imposed Section 144 within a 100-metre radius of examination centres to prevent unauthorised gatherings and maintain security.
In a student-friendly move, the government has arranged free travel on Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) buses for candidates upon production of their admit cards.
To prevent any possibility of electronic malpractice, mobile signal jammers will be installed at examination centres, while CCTV surveillance will be mandatory across all venues.
The Chief Minister further announced that examination centres would remain under round-the-clock police protection and that question papers would be transported under heightened security arrangements.
“There will be 24-hour police protection at all examination centres. CCTV monitoring will be ensured, and question papers will be transported securely to maintain the integrity of the examination process,” Sarma said.
Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding the credibility of the examination.

The state government has also directed all Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to personally inspect strong rooms and examination centres and remain vigilant until answer scripts are safely dispatched from their respective districts.
Additionally, officials have been instructed to strictly enforce National Testing Agency (NTA) guidelines, verify all personnel engaged through third-party agencies, closely monitor social media to curb rumours and misinformation, and ensure seamless coordination between district administrations and NTA-appointed agencies.
The elaborate security arrangements come amid heightened scrutiny surrounding national-level entrance examinations, with the Assam government seeking to reassure students and parents that every effort is being made to guarantee a fair and credible examination environment.
For thousands of aspiring medical students across the state, the message from the government is clear — the integrity of the examination will be protected at all costs.
