In this offering I wanted to briefly mention the Mercury cazimi happening, January 21.
A cazimi is a special kind of conjunction that only happens when a visible planet unites with the Sun. A planet that’s cazimi has special potency and influence.
Symbolically it’s as if the cazimi planet is in the heart of the Sun, as though the planet joins the Sun in its sacred sanctuary.
One way you can think about a cazimi planet is that it is communing with the source of divine wisdom.
Elevated Mercury: Logical Mind
Since that planet is Mercury, you might find your mind is light up with insight and clarity, or you might gain new awareness and understanding about a current matter.
Ideas and interests might crystalise, or you might have a pivotal ‘A ha!’ moment.
Like an inner light bulb going off, Mercury cazimi can help you sort out your thoughts or be specific with communication. This might also help with a breakthrough around technology, networking or coordinating logistics for the future.
Mercury Cazimi in 2026
Due its fast speed, and closeness to the Sun, Mercury is cazimi more than any other planet (except the Moon!).
In fact, in 2026, Mercury will be cazimi six times – three times while retrograde and three times while direct.
Of the six Mercury cazimi events in 2026, the best one looks to be on August 27, when Mercury will cazimi the Sun while direct and in Virgo (4 Virgo). This will be an astute and grounded version of Mercury cazimi, which may promise practical solutions and help with solving a problem.
