In the natal chart, we look at 3 placements to foretell if a transit from Saturn or Uranus will result in relationship challenges, difficulties, and make or break periods.
The first is Venus, the planet that governs love and relationships
The 2nd is the Descendant (the 7th-house cusp), which governs partnerships. I always consider it like a 2nd Venus
And last, the ruling planet of the 7th house
Saturn transits to Venus, the Descendant, or the ruler of the 7th via conjunction, square, or opposition:
I never suggest anyone leave a partner during a Saturn transit; it usually makes for a very hard year, relationship-wise. Perhaps your partnership requires some adjusting, boundaries, or is tested in some way. This is the transit when your relationship may hit a hard point, you may find yourself in couples therapy, or you may feel like your connection is boring, uninspiring, or like a 2nd job. These are the common comments I often hear mentioned from couples experiencing a Saturn transit during a consultation or session. It suggests a hard year, but I do believe couples can get through this. Every year of life isn’t fun or exciting, and Saturn transiting your 7th house, Venus, or the ruler of the 7th can suggest just that: it is time to put the work in. If you are dating, this transit can suggest you are about to level up and move in together, get engaged, or get married. Saturn transiting any of the above is when you are deciding, do I really want to do this? Am I in this? Am I still in this? Keep in mind, we experience a Saturn transit every 7 years, so every 7 years, we are at a crossroads in our partnerships, deciding whether to stay or go.
I often feel that two types of couples survive difficult relationship transits the first is the fake couple; never introspective, sweeps everything under the rug and turns a blind eye to all that is happening and the 2nd is the couple that puts the work in, is willing to die a 100 versions of one another and are BOTH active participants in making the partnership work.
I have predicted many divorces; sadly, it has become somewhat of a specialty. The most recent Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck divorce. Jennifer Lopez has Venus in 19 degrees of Gemini, which was being squared by Saturn in Pisces throughout 2024, while Ben Affleck had Saturn, the ruler of his 7th house, in 18 degrees of Gemini, being squared by Saturn throughout the year.

The divorce was finalized in January 2025.
This isn’t to say every couple that experiences these transits will break up; after all, as I previously mentioned, any couple that has been together for over 7 years has already experienced a difficult Saturn transit that impacts that partnership.
Back in 2022, I mentioned Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman had survived all the divorce transits, but they had one more to go in 2025. That was the final hit of transiting Saturn in Pisces, opposing his natal Venus in Virgo; they announced they were filing for divorce in September 2025.
Uranus transits to Venus, the Descendant, or the ruler of the 7th via conjunction, square, or opposition:
Whereas Saturn transits last about one year, Uranus transits can last much longer. Saturn makes the relationship difficult, or it provides an opportunity to solidify a partnership and take it to the next level. Uranus brings in the desire for freedom or change in a long-lasting connection. Uranus is the planet we associate with separation and sudden, unexpected events. Uranus can also be viewed as a make-or-break transit when it forms a hard aspect (conjunction, square, or opposition) to Venus, the descendant or ruler of the 7th house.
I predicted Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce several months prior to the announcement.
I do believe this prediction was quite Uranian and unexpected, as they were previously thought of by many as “Hollywood’s Golden Couple.”
At the time of Brad and Angelina’s divorce, Brad had transiting Uranus in Aries, squaring his natal Venus in Capricorn, and Angelina had transiting Uranus in Aries, squaring the ruler of her seventh house.
While I do believe Astrology helps us see what is up ahead and prepare, I do not think awareness equates to the ability to avoid circumstances. If you see a Saturn transit is on route to your Venus or the other placements mentioned above, you may want to infuse a little fun into your partnership before the transit, or you may want to address any issues you have in your partnership before they mount. Saturn is a firm boundary and a line in the sand; working on things instead of waiting for the transit to hit can make it easier to navigate. Once Saturn transits to an exact degree, you will be at your breaking point; Saturn very much rules your line in the sand.
Uranus transits crave excitement and something different; they can also represent a line in the sand, but not a hard line, more of a I am just done, I am out of here, I am not doing this anymore. It is a common transit to also see during affairs, so if you see this transit coming, you may take action to spice up your relationship before either party decides to step out. It is also a common transit to see when a person marries since it represents a change in partnership; whether that change is positive or negative depends on the condition of that relationship.
