March is a lovely month, especially in the northern hemisphere, as the Equinox takes place on March 20. This is the start of spring and an ideal time to set new intentions. You’re better off choosing the Equinox for new resolutions rather than January 1 which remains in the depths of winter.
Plus, this year, the Equinox coincides with a New Moon, a symbol of new beginnings, and communication planet Mercury turning direct, a green light. Reorient your compass to get things moving in your life during this peak time in the month – 19/20 March onwards.
However, up until then, things could feel something of a muddle and mess thanks to an eclipse on March 3 and Mercury retrograde until March 20. Take your time moving into the new month. Here’s what’s coming up:
Total Lunar Eclipse [13° Virgo]
March 3
The Full Moon on March 3 is a total Lunar Eclipse. This is part of the eclipse cycle which began in September 2024 and continues until February 2027 cutting across the Virgo/Pisces axis of the zodiac.
Plus, this eclipse mirrors the Lunar Eclipse on September 7, 2025 which fell at 15° Pisces. It may be that significant events back then are coming full circle this month.
During a Lunar Eclipse, the Sun and Moon are at opposite sides of the zodiac. A shadow is thrown which is why eclipse symbolism is said to be ‘shadowy’ and hidden. Once the shadow lifts, it brings what’s hidden to light or sheds a new perspective on a current situation.
Traditionally, you’re wise to wait a few days after an eclipse before taking action and it’s not an ideal date to undertake a major project. This time around, you’re wise to wait even longer because communication planet Mercury remains retrograde in Pisces until March 20.
Jupiter turns direct [15° Cancer]
March 11
Jupiter is the biggest planet in the universe and the best planet in astrology. It represents opportunity and growth, expansion and freedom and is the planet of hope, trust and faith.
The big planet is linked to global connections, education, publishing, the law, religion, spirituality. It’s where you find meaning and purpose in the world. Jupiter encourages you to embrace life to the full.
Jupiter turns direct in water sign Cancer on March 11 after being retrograde for four months since November 11, 2025. This is the last part of Jupiter’s journey through Cancer, the home and family star sign, where it’s been since June 9, 2025. Jupiter will leave Cancer on June 30.
It’s a positive time to put energy into your life, wherever you find Jupiter’s blessings. Jupiter likes to be in Cancer as it’s a protective influence. Although, this can be emotional as Cancer’s a sentimental influence and Jupiter expands what it touches.
Sun enters Aries – EQUINOX
March 20
On March 20, the Sun moves into Aries, the day of the Equinox bringing a change in season. This is the start of a new zodiac cycle.
Here in the northern hemisphere, it’s the beginning of spring, with its promise of growth and seeds being sown. The clocks change during Aries season and we move into BST, British Summer Time, at the end of the month.
The Sun’s move into Aries is a renewal and a rebirth, an ideal time to set new resolutions and intentions moving forward. It’s a reminder of the importance of individual action.
You can choose how you want to be each and every day. Every individual has a choice on how to respond to life’s events and how to interact with other people, our world.
As you move into a new season, stretch your body and mind to push back the boundaries and expand what’s possible.
Mercury turns direct [8° Pisces]
March 20
Communication planet Mercury turns direct in emotional water sign Pisces on March 20 after being retrograde since February 26.
Mercury turning direct is the time to plug back in, chase up correspondence and get back on track with what you need to do. Reopen the lines of communication and get things moving.
Mercury will remain in its shadow phase until April 10. Even so, the period around the Equinox is a positive time to try again and move things forward.

March 19
A New Moon is a symbol of new beginnings. Traditionally, a New Moon is the time to launch a project, begin something new and start over.
This is the beginning of the waxing phase of the Moon cycle, an ideal time to set your intentions for the month ahead. Make a wish when you first catch sight of the crescent Moon, a couple of days after the New Moon date.
This month’s New Moon falls in water sign Pisces on March 19. An ideal time to surrender to life, go with the flow and find beauty in the world.
Pisces is a water sign, a reminder to bring more compassion, emotion and empathy into the world. It’s a season of hugs and caring, kindness and sensitivity. Make loving connections. Don’t be on your own.
