Manjit Shokar has joined RMT to head up the London office of its recovery and insolvency wing. He brings more than 20 years of experience to the role.
Shokar said, “I am delighted to have joined the RMT Team, which has always been at the forefront of company rescue. As we move through 2026, the insolvency landscape is increasingly defined by a focus on early action and navigating the complex duties of directors and stakeholders in respect of distressed companies. I am eager to apply my skills and experience to help clients navigate these challenges and provide innovative and tailored solutions.”
Looking ahead, Shokar will lead the London office for RMT Recovery and Insolvency. He started his insolvency career over 20 years ago, and spent over 10 years working at Grant Thornton in one of the largest dedicated insolvency investigation teams in the UK. More recently he was a licensed appointment taker at MHA and Begbies Traynor, providing advice to directors and stakeholders, on formal and non-formal insolvency options.

RMT Accountants & Business Advisors provides the full range of financial and business advisory services through its specialist teams, and works with companies of all sizes within and outside the North East, as well as internationally. The deal marks RMT’s third acquisition since it became part of mid-market accounting network Sumer Group, after which it made growth by acquisition a key part of its commercial strategy.
RMT joined forces in the summer with Durham-headquartered Ribchesters Chartered Accountants, which now operates as RMT Ribchesters in mid-2024. At the end of the year, it also acquired restructuring firm KSA Group, as it continued to grow its insolvency services – which Shokar will now also help to support.
