Shiny Pokémon have become a staple of the franchise in recent years, with mechanics for locating the rare, alternate varieties dominating conversations. However, Pokopia has shaken Shiny hunting up thanks to the Habitat system.
Pokopia has included many of the mainstays in its dystopian storyline. Fans can bump into Legendaries lurking in unique parts of Biomes, encounter unique species that have developed from known Pokémon, and interact with certain Pokémon for the chance to learn Abilities based on old HM moves.
However, one mechanic that doesn’t make an appearance in the base game is Shiny hunting. Despite its popularity, there is no way for Shiny Pokémon to spawn naturally in the world. Below is a breakdown of why Shiny Pokémon can’t appear in Pokopia.
How to Build Porygon’s Habitat in Pokopia
Porygon is a unique Kanto Pokémon with expensive taste, and it boasts one of the more expensive habitat requirements in Pokopia.
Are There Shiny Pokémon in Pokopia?
No, there are no Shiny Pokémon in Pokopia as of the base game release. Because Pokémon can only spawn once, this makes Shiny hunting almost impossible. Additionally, many habitats can spawn Pokémon that players haven’t obtained. This already adds an RND element to the spawns, and adding Shiny alternates would make the process more complicated.
Legendary Pokémon are also unable to appear Shiny. Many appear in the main story, and would be Shiny-locked in a mainline game for that reason.
Can Event Pokemon Be Shiny in Pokopia?
Currently, no event Pokémon have appeared as Shiny in Pokopia. Sableye, Hoppip, Jumpluff, and Skiploom have all appeared in their standard colorations, with no way to obtain them as Shiny.
Of all the mechanics in Pokopia, however, it seems like Event Pokémon may be the most likely way to introduce Shinies into the game. The events auto-spawn a specific Pokémon to start the event, and it could be that a Shiny option is the main event Pokémon at a future point.
However, at this time, there has been no confirmation of Shiny Event Pokémon by the developers. It is likely that if a Shiny Pokémon were to be introduced via events in Pokopia, players would learn about it in advance, as with current event announcements.
While there are no Shiny Pokémon to locate in Pokopia, there are still plenty of rare and elusive options to hunt down while playing through the game. The Legendary Birds, Dogs, and Mew are all lurking in secret locations, waiting to be invited to town. With luck, even more will be added in future updates and events.
