New Delhi: A large-scale preventive health analysis highlights a widespread burden of silent health risks across the population, with more than 9 in 10 individuals showing early signs of at least one health condition, and a majority exhibiting multiple overlapping risk factors.

This finding comes from the Bharat Aarogyam Score launched by Thyrocare Technologies Limited on World Health Day. The preventive health analysis is based on over 93 lakh health checkups conducted between 2023 and 2025.

It evaluates 10 major health condition groups, including cancer risk indicators, diabetes, heart health, liver and kidney function, thyroid disorders, and deficiencies in Vitamin D and Vitamin B12, along with iron status and hemoglobin levels. The findings indicate that health risks rarely occur in isolation, with a majority of individuals presenting multiple overlapping conditions.

The analysis also shows that non-communicable disease risks begin earlier than commonly perceived. Heart and diabetes risks rise sharply in the 21 to 40 age group, with heart risk doubling by the 30s and diabetes risk more than doubling by the 40s. Kidney-related risks increase significantly after the age of 60, while thyroid imbalance shows a steady rise across age groups, indicating a gradual accumulation of risk over time.

Gender-based insights reveal notable variations, including a significantly higher prevalence of low hemoglobin in females and higher liver marker abnormalities and Vitamin B12 deficiency in males. Thyroid imbalance shows only a marginal difference between genders, challenging common assumptions.

The report further indicates that overall health risk trends remained largely stable between 2023 and 2025, suggesting a persistent underlying burden rather than shifting disease patterns.

“India is not sick, India is unaware,” said Rahul Guha, MD & CEO, Thyrocare Technologies Limited, emphasising the importance of preventive awareness and early knowledge of health parameters. Other senior executives highlighted the need for a shift from episodic treatment to continuous preventive care and data-driven health insights.

The findings underline a critical shift in India’s health landscape, marked by early-onset lifestyle risks and multiple co-existing conditions, reinforcing the growing importance of preventive healthcare and regular health screening.
