Boko, April 4: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma is set to address a major election rally at Bongaon in the Boko-Chaygaon constituency on April 6, as the National People’s Party intensifies its campaign for the Assam Legislative Assembly election 2026.
Preparations are underway at the Santi-Nijora Club venue, with senior leaders including MLA Pongseng R. Marak and NPP vice-president I. Hemochandra Singh reviewing arrangements alongside party candidate Ganseng B. Sangma, who is contesting from 28-Boko-Chaygaon (ST).

The rally is expected to draw participation from party leaders and workers across states, with the NPP aiming to project its regional vision and expand its footprint in Assam.
The development follows the recent inauguration of the party’s election office near National Highway 17 in Boko by Hemochandra Singh and Meghalaya minister Marcuise N. Marak after a day-long campaign in the constituency.
Party leaders have expressed confidence in growing support, claiming a surge in new entrants, including workers from the BJP and Congress. Marak said the NPP—founded in 2012—has expanded rapidly across the Northeast and voiced optimism that Assam could elect its first NPP legislator.
Rejecting allegations of being aligned with the BJP, the party asserted its independent political identity, positioning itself as an alternative force ahead of the polls.
