Eid-Al-Fitr 2026: Chances of Moon Sighting in India and Pakistan
𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮: There is only about a 5% chance of sighting the new moon today. With prevailing cloudy conditions, limited crescent illumination, and unfavorable visibility timing, moon sighting appears highly unlikely.
𝙀𝙞𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: Expected within 1 hour after Maghrib prayers.
𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻: Around a 20% chance of moon sighting exists today.
Sighting is highly unlikely in Punjab, PAK, and Gilgit-Baltistan provinces.
A very weak possibility remains in parts of Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The moon will stay above the horizon for roughly 30 minutes after sunset. Under completely clear skies, sighting may be possible with optical aid (binoculars/telescopes). However, naked-eye visibility remains extremely low.
𝙀𝙞𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: Likely 2.5 to 4 hours after Maghrib, due to expected delays in verification.
𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗺𝘂, 𝗞𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗶𝗿 & 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗸𝗵:
Persistent cloud cover makes moon sighting highly unlikely across the region.
