Guwahati, Mar 24: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that every election is crucial for the survival and protection of the identity of the indigenous people of the state.
Speaking to reporters after the Jan Ashirwad Yatra in the Sorbhog-Bhawanipur constituency, Sarma said, “Every election is important for the indigenous people of Assam because we have to survive and protect our identity.”
Expressing confidence ahead of the polls, he added, “People are showering us with love and coming out in large numbers to support us. We are confident of winning all the seats. We have left the Bajali seat for our alliance partner, AGP.”

Sarma said the Jan Ashirwad Yatra concluded on Tuesday, covering around 2,000 km across 40 Assembly constituencies in Assam.
“From tomorrow, the Vijay Sankalp Sabha will begin. During the Yatra, we received tremendous support from the people,” he said.
The Chief Minister also campaigned for BJP candidate Ranjit Kumar Dass in the Sorbhog-Bhawanipur constituency.
During the campaign, Sarma distributed locally produced ‘Made in Assam’ chips among supporters. Referring to the snacks as his “bhagins,” he highlighted the importance of promoting local products and entrepreneurship.
