Delhi has secured a chance to stage the second stage of the Asia Cup Archery event in 2027. It is India’s first major international archery event after 22 years. The decision was announced yesterday after World Archery Asia approved it at a meeting held in Delhi. India last hosted a major international archery event in 2005 when Delhi hosted the Asian Archery Championships.
World Archery Asia President Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol is currently in Kolkata for a three-day visit. He met the Archery Association of India Secretary General Virendra Sachdeva. The two officials spoke about international events that are to be held before taking a final decision to award India the hosting rights.
Kaji Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol said, “We are confident that Delhi will be an excellent host, and there should be no problems. If the Archery Association of India wishes, they will host it. We are also considering selecting Delhi as the venue for next year’s Commonwealth Archery Championships.”

Another good news is that Ahmedabad will host the Asian Para Archery Championships in September this year. Meanwhile, Kolkata will also have the opportunity to host an international competition after many years, as it has been awarded the South Asian Archery Championships in 2026.
