Ola Electric has announced a substantial price reduction for its flagship electric motorcycle, the Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh, bringing the price down by Rs 60,000. The model, powered by the company’s indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell, will now be available at Rs 1,29,999, down from its earlier Rs 1,89,999 price tag.

Ola Roadster 9.1 Vs Bajaj Platina: Running Cost

The Ola Roadster X+ 9.1 offers a claimed range of up to 501 km (IDC claimed) from its 9.1 kWh battery pack. Considering an average unit cost for electricity of Rs 5, the total cost of charging the motorcycle comes down to Rs 46 only. And, this translates to a running cost of an impressive Rs 0.09 per km.

In comparison, the Bajaj Platina has a running cost of roughly Rs 1.35 per km. Taken into account – a claimed mileage of 70 kmpl and fuel prices at Rs 94.77 per litre. Of course, the upfront cost to buy the Ola Roadster 9.1 is relatively high, but the everyday cost of running is apparently much cheaper.

In case you are wondering, how many kms will it take to balance out this difference? Well, 6 lakh kms, but we haven’t taken into account the maintenance cost here, which is much higher for the Platina, in contrast to the Ola Roadster 9.1.

Talking about the prices, the Bajaj Platina 110 begins from Rs 69,800 (ex-showroom), and with the price reduction, the Roadster X+9.1 is tagged at Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom).

The company said the reduction has been made possible through improved economies of scale at its Gigafactory and deeper vertical integration of its battery cell operations. As production of the 4680 Bharat Cell continues to ramp up, manufacturing costs have declined, allowing Ola to pass these benefits on to customers.

Alongside the revised pricing, Ola Electric has also shifted the Roadster X+ 9.1 to a limited purchase window model. Instead of open sales, the electric motorcycle will now be sold in time-bound slots with limited units available. The first purchase window is scheduled to open on April 3 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with future slots to be announced periodically depending on production availability.

The Roadster X+ 9.1, positioned as Ola’s highest-performance electric motorcycle, offers a claimed range of up to 500 km. According to the company, demand for the motorcycle has been significantly higher than the current supply capacity, prompting the shift to controlled sales windows.

Commenting on the announcement, an Ola Electric spokesperson said, “As production of our 4680 Bharat Cell scales, we are able to unlock significant cost efficiencies and pass them on directly to customers. The response to the Roadster has been extremely strong – the bike demand during our #EndICEAge campaign has grown more than 5X, and this new pricing makes long-range electric mobility even more accessible.”

Ola also noted that it is accelerating Gigafactory expansion, with battery cell capacity scaling towards 6 GWh, as part of its efforts to strengthen domestic battery manufacturing. The announcement follows a strong recovery in Ola Electric’s business momentum during March, when registrations reportedly grew by over 150 per cent month-on-month. With improved battery scale, lower costs, and rising demand, the Roadster X+ 9.1 now enters the market with a more aggressive price point and a controlled availability strategy.
