Katsina United F.C. have threatened to take legal action against their striker, Uche Collins, after declaring him absent without official leave.
The Nigeria Premier Football League side said the forward has been missing from the club since February 22, when he last featured in their league match against Rangers International F.C. at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
According to the club, Collins, who is currently their leading scorer this season, has not returned to training and has also left the club’s accommodation without informing the management.
Chairman of the club, Surajo Umar Baba, said the striker’s disappearance is a breach of his contract and warned that the club would not tolerate such behaviour.
“The player has been absent from the club’s activities without official permission since February 22, 2026, when he took part in our match against Rangers International Football Club,” Baba said.
He added that the club had heard reports suggesting that the striker might be negotiating with a club in Europe.
“We have received rumours that he is speaking with a European club, but let it be clear that Uche Collins remains a Katsina United player. He has a valid contract with the club until the end of the 2026/2027 football season,” he stated.
Baba also warned any club planning to sign the striker without following due process to reconsider, stressing that such action could lead to legal consequences.
According to him, the player’s conduct violates the regulations of the Nigeria Premier Football League as well as the commercial framework guiding the competition and the rules of FIFA.
The club said the issue has already been reported to the relevant football authorities and requested that the player’s International Transfer Certificate should not be processed until the matter is resolved.
Katsina United also assured their supporters and stakeholders that the situation would be handled in line with football regulations. ⚽
