Newsbrief: Xbox CEO Asha Shar has revealed the codename for the next Xbox and offered some small details about its capabilities. In a post on X, she stated that the device is currently called “Project Helix.”
“Great start to the morning with Team Xbox, where we talked about our commitment to the return of Xbox including Project Helix, the code name for our next generation console,” she wrote. “Project Helix will lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games. Looking forward to chatting about this more with partners and studios at my first GDC next week!”
No other details were immediately available. A simultaneous post from the Xbox Twitter account only contained an animated version of the logo. Former Xbox president Sarah Bond previously stated that Microsoft would be partnering with manufacturer AMD to “co-engineer” the next Xbox, and that the next generation of Xbox would not be “locked to a single store or tied to one device.”
