Saros is currently at the center of a digital firestorm, and Housemarque is feeling the heat. Following the latest gameplay reveal, social media has been flooded with PC players demanding a port. While the desire to play is more than understandable, the delivery has been… questionable.
Between the heated demands and the outright toxic comments, many seem to be ignoring a cold, hard truth: Sony is looking at the spreadsheets, and the numbers aren’t lying.

A Shift in Strategy That Stings
While we’ve grown accustomed to PlayStation exclusives eventually migrating to Steam, the rules of the game are changing in 2026. Reports from reliable sources like Jason Schreier suggest a 180-degree turn in Sony’s strategy.
High-profile single-player titles, starting with Ghost of Yotei and followed by Marvel’s Wolverine and Saros, reportedly appear to be anchored strictly to the PS5.
This news hit the community like a bucket of ice water. The frustration on Housemarque’s latest social posts is palpable, with some users holding nothing back:
“We need this on PC, I’m never buying a Playstation and I really want to play this game.”
“Make sure to remind Sony that those of us who played Returnal on PC expect this to be available too. Nothing they do will convince us to buy a console just for one game.”
There is a sense of entitlement from a segment of the community that, ironically, didn’t show up when it mattered most.
The Ghost of Returnal: A Reality Check
The loudest argument is that Saros needs the PC audience to succeed. However, history tells a different story. We only need to look at Returnal.
Housemarque’s previous masterpiece arrived on PC in 2023 with massive hype, yet the results were disappointing at best.
With a peak of barely 7,000 concurrent players on Steam, the actual support was minimal compared to the online noise.
Today, only about 134 people are playing it on Valve’s platform. It turns out that outrage doesn’t always translate into sales:
“You could make so much money launching day one on PC. Nobody plays these games on PS.”
When you factor in that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also failed to hit the expected heights on PC, it makes sense that Sony is reportedly reconsidering if the cost of porting and optimization is actually worth the investment.
PlayStation or Nothing?
Sony’s stance is becoming crystal clear: if you want to experience their top-tier narrative journeys on day one, you need a PS5 or a PS5 Pro.
While live-service and multiplayer games will continue to bridge the gap to PC, the “crown jewels” are being locked away again.
It’s easy to understand the anger of someone who doesn’t want to drop hundreds on a console for a single title, but the disrespect toward developers is uncalled for. At the end of the day, gaming is a business, and companies follow the data.
Mark your calendars: Saros launches on April 30th. Unless Sony has a massive change of heart, a DualSense controller will be your only ticket into this universe.
