The Management Consultancies Association (MCA), the representative body for the UK consulting sector, has appointed Alex Slater as its next President.
Having worked in consulting for more than 20 years, Alex Slater is the Managing Director of Capgemini Invent in the UK and Northern Europe. He has been in the role since July 2023, earlier he served as Chief Operating Officer of Capgemini Invent’s UK business and as the firm’s Global Industry Lead for the Public Sector.
Before joining Capgemini Invent, Slater spent thirteen years at Accenture, where he grew the ranks to Managing Director (the equivalent of partner) level.
Currently a board member of the MCA, Slater will formally take on the role of President on the 25th of March. He succeeds Nicholas Fox from KPMG, who has been President for two years and helped the MCA grow its membership base to over 100 consultancies.
Commenting on his new role, Slater said: “As President of the MCA, I am committed to leading with purpose, ensuring that as consultants, we feel part of a broader profession, and helping to shape the future role of consulting in an increasingly data and AI-enabled professional services environment. These are the values and experiences that I look forward to bringing into my time as President working closely with the MCA’s board, council, and wider membership.”
Chief Executive of the MCA Tamzen Isacsson said: “We thank Nicholas for his service to the industry and look forward to working with Alex to further strengthen consulting’s positive impact on the economy and society.”
According to the MCA’s latest economic outlook for the consulting sector, the industry is forecast to grow by 5.7% in 2026 and by 7.4% in 2027. However, these projections were made before the Iran conflict broke out, and the estimates are expected to be revised downwards in the MCA’s next update.
