Dibrugarh, March 28: Four persons, including a four-year-old child, lost their lives while three others sustained injuries after a vehicle plunged into a gorge at Yakung village under Kibithu circle in Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw district on Saturday.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 1 pm. Initial findings suggest that poor visibility due to fog, coupled with light rain, contributed to the accident. The driver reportedly lost control while negotiating the hilly terrain, causing the Tata Yodha vehicle to veer off the road and fall into a roadside gorge.
The vehicle was carrying seven persons, including the driver, who is also the owner.
Officials said that three of the deceased belonged to the same family. Owing to the remote and challenging terrain, information about the accident reached the local administration only the following morning, after which a search and rescue operation was launched.
The injured were later shifted to Tezu Zonal Hospital in neighbouring Lohit district for treatment.
