New Delhi: Fresenius Medical Care India has concluded its first Dialysis Technician Certification Training Programme in the country in collaboration with Epitome Kidney Urology Institute & Lions Hospital, bringing together over 200 dialysis technicians for structured training aimed at strengthening kidney care delivery.
The one-day programme, conducted under the company’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) initiative, focused on addressing the growing need for formal, practice-oriented training for dialysis technicians, who play a crucial role in patient safety and the daily functioning of dialysis units.
Designed to bridge existing skill gaps, the programme emphasised real-world clinical applications and best practices beyond conventional education. The curriculum covered areas such as infection control, dialysis adequacy, advanced dialysis therapies, alarm handling, and management of dialysis-related complications.
Participants also visited the hospital’s dialysis unit to observe advanced infrastructure, including haemodiafiltration (HDF)-enabled machines, a medical-grade water treatment system, and a digitised patient data reporting framework. As the knowledge partner, Fresenius Medical Care India worked closely with the hospital’s clinical leadership to design and deliver the programme.
The hospital was selected for the initiative due to its adoption of advanced dialysis care practices, including HDF kidney replacement therapy and a fully digitised dialysis patient data system through the Therapy Data Monitoring System (TDMS), enabling real-time monitoring and improved adherence to clinical protocols.
Commenting on the programme, Vijay Kher, Chairman, Nephrology & Kidney Transplant at Epitome Hospital, informed that the training was designed by healthcare professionals for healthcare professionals, with a focus on advancing kidney care through evidence-based practice and hands-on learning.
Ajay Kher, Medical Director and Nephrologist at the hospital, said, “The initiative aligns with the institute’s focus on delivering patient-centric care and building a skilled dialysis workforce capable of improving treatment outcomes.”
Tarun Kaushik, Medical Director, Fresenius Medical Care India, said, “Advancing clinical expertise is as important as technological innovation.” He also added that the collaboration helped develop a clinically relevant and practical curriculum for dialysis technicians.
Highlighting the broader significance of the initiative, Bhaskar Guha said the Centre of Excellence collaboration reflects the company’s commitment to improving access to high-quality dialysis care by empowering technicians with best practices in dialysis therapy.
Fresenius Medical Care India partners with leading dialysis centres under its CoE initiatives to deliver specialised training programmes for healthcare professionals. The company said the successful completion of the first certification programme reflects the growing demand for structured training and the need for continued investment in capacity building to support evolving dialysis care needs in India.
