Elden Ring has set the gaming world ablaze following the emergence of footage that has left the FromSoftware community breathless. About a year ago, Bandai Namco stunned the industry by announcing a live-action film adaptation, and now, what would appear to be the actual production set has finally been spotted.
The Elden Ring Movie Is in the Works
During the IGN Fan Fest 2025, George R. R. Martin revealed that Elden Ring is already being developed for the big screen
The Lands Between Brought to Life
Directed by the visionary Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Civil War) and produced by A24, the project aims to translate the oppressive and majestic atmosphere of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s masterpiece to the big screen.
In the leaked material, several elements would be identifiable to any Tarnished:
The Iconography of Marika: The footage would show a statue of Queen Marika the Eternal standing within the stone ruins of a structure that would closely resemble the Third Church of Marika. This is where players typically find their first Sacred Tears to upgrade their Flask of Crimson Tears.
Staging and Props: Old-fashioned wooden carriages, reminiscent of the Great Caravans that roam the game’s map, would be visible alongside curved vertical structures that could be interpreted as the finger-like monoliths or ritual totems found throughout Limgrave.
High-Budget Scale: The presence of heavy cranes and support staff would indicate a massive production scale, consistent with A24’s largest investment to date.
A Dream Collaboration
The official project, which includes world-building contributions from George R.R. Martin, is rumored to favor practical effects over heavy CGI.
Garland, a self-proclaimed fan of the RPG, reportedly spent months in Japan consulting with Miyazakito ensure the film captures the environmental storytelling that defines the franchise.
Reality or Digital Mirage?
As with any high-profile leak, a degree of skepticism is mandatory. While there is no official confirmation regarding the current filming location, nor have we found information to debunk these images, in an era where AI continues to shine, anything is possible.
This could be our first genuine look at a live-action Site of Grace, or it could be an incredibly sophisticated fan-made render designed to test the limits of generative video.
For now, the Tarnished must wait for an official trailer to see if this vision of the Erdtree truly takes root.
