The Lift: Supernatural Handyman Simulator is now set to launch in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with tinyBuild and Fantastic Signals using the Triple-i Initiative showcase to confirm the new release window and expand the game beyond its original PC announcement.

First revealed in September 2025, The Lift had already built a decent amount of momentum before today’s showcase push. In a new press release, tinyBuild says the game has passed 300,000 Steam wishlists following its original reveal and late-2025 public playtest, giving this latest trailer the feel of a broader relaunch rather than a first introduction.

The Lift Turns Handyman Work Into a Supernatural Mystery

Fantastic Signals describes The Lift as a first-person, narrative-driven supernatural handyman simulator set inside a massive abandoned research facility known as the Institute. Players take on the role of a Keeper, tasked with restoring the facility while uncovering the truth behind the mysterious incident that left it in ruins. The official site and store page both frame the setting as a surreal, highly interactive world inspired by Soviet science fiction.

That setup gives the game a pretty unusual mix of jobs and systems. According to the new press release, players will handle everything from basic furniture repairs to fixing interdimensional satellite dishes, vacuuming up reality-distorting anomalies, collecting fuel from robotic bees, and reviving damaged machinery throughout the Institute. Sony’s PlayStation Blog post adds that the game is built around equal parts renovation, exploration, and story, with the Lift itself acting as a mobile base that carries players between different parts of the facility.

Exploration and Repairs as Core Mechanics

The official breakdown of the game leans heavily on three pillars: renovate, explore, and repair. Each floor of the Institute is being pitched as its own renovation project, with players crafting tools, solving electrical problems, routing cables, managing power supply, and bringing intricate systems back online. That part sounds much more involved than a simple cleanup sim, especially with the game also promising hidden areas, questlines, and multiple biomes spread throughout the facility.

The story side appears to be just as important as the repair work. Fantastic Signals says players will gradually piece together the truth behind the catastrophe that changed the Institute, while meeting characters tied to its collapse and the strange forces now consuming it. That mix of handyman systems and science-fiction horror is still the game’s clearest hook, and today’s new trailer seems designed to push that identity harder now that the launch window has moved to 2027.
