Tura, April 16: Young innovators from West Garo Hills turned the spotlight on clean energy and sustainable solutions at the District Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition 2025–26, held on Thursday at the SMELC Building in Dakopgre, Tura.

Organised by the District School Education Officer (DSEO), West Garo Hills, the exhibition brought together students from ten schools across urban and rural areas under the theme “STEM for Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat.” The event highlighted how grassroots innovation can contribute to building a self-reliant India.

A strong focus on renewable energy and future-ready agriculture defined this year’s entries, with students presenting working models and concepts ranging from hydroelectric systems to hydroponic farming.

The exhibition drew participation from students, teachers, and a panel of judges who assessed projects for originality, practicality, and scientific understanding.

Addressing the gathering, retired DSEO S.K. Saha said science remains the backbone of national progress and urged students to cultivate curiosity beyond textbooks. Stressing the importance of sustainable development, he encouraged young minds to explore solutions in areas such as clean energy and agriculture, noting that innovation at the grassroots level is key to long-term self-sufficiency.
