So if you missed it recently, Dune Awakening announced that most players seem to enjoy the game more as a PvE experience than a PvP one. This was fascinating to me, not because the conclusion was surprising but because it wasn’t. How did people who presumably are paid to work on this game as a full-time job not already come to this conclusion? It seems so obvious, and the fact that it apparently was not leaves me with few options but to stare at the screen and say, “well, duh.”
We all have our moments when we do something that should be so obvious in retrospect that we’re kind of ashamed to admit we didn’t do it in the first place. MMO developers are no exception, but it’s still worth noting when it happens. So what’s the most “no duh” moment you can think of from an MMO developer? A moment when a developer reveals that the team has discovered a truth that you could have shared for free a long, long time ago?
Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
