Menzies appoints five senior members to drive regional expansion

Business advisory and accountancy firm Menzies has appointed five new partners across its tax, employer solutions, audit, and restructuring and insolvency teams. Hayley Worsfold, Emily James, Mark Smith, Yuvan Deena an Jan Charlesworth are appointed in the firm’s London, Cardiff and Stevenage locales.

Simon Massey, managing partner at Menzies, commented, “These appointments reflect the way that we are continuing to grow the firm with the right expertise in the right places, while staying true to our Brighter Thinking approach. Strengthening leadership across Tax, Employer Solutions, Audit and Restructuring & Insolvency teams means we are well positioned to support clients with clear, commercially focused advice as they navigate both change and opportunity in a fast-moving world and economic environment.”

Hayley Worsfold becomes a member of the firm’s Cardiff office as a tax partner, to support a portfolio of owner-managed businesses with proactive personal and corporate tax advice focused on practical, commercially driven solutions. Also joining Menzies’ business tax strategy group, her primary focus will be helping clients address the challenges they face through effective tax planning, alongside broader business advisory, compliance and strategic support.

Emily James joins Menzies as an Associate Partner, with more than 15 years of experience supporting organisations with accessing and mobilising global talent. She will lead the continued growth of Menzies’ international payroll, global mobility, employment tax and compliance services. She has led multiple outsourced programmes, including designing agile policies for international and cross-border clients.

Mark Smith joins the firm’s restructuring and insolvency team as a partner, bringing with him nearly 20 years of experience across complex restructuring and insolvency assignments in both the UK and internationally. He specialises in the wind down of funds and investment trusts, solvent eliminations and managed exits, and has developed expertise in the biotech, life science and fintech sectors, including regulated businesses.

Yuvan Deena arrives with over 15 years of experience at Forvis Mazars, Grant Thornton and KPMG. Working in Menzies’ Stevenage office as an audit and assurance partner, he is familiar with with medium and large clients across a diverse range of sectors, including international groups and businesses backed by private equity.

Jan Charlesworth will lead a portfolio of audit clients while playing a key role in developing and mentoring talent as the team expands, and in building the firm’s presence in the Gatwick Diamond. He joins Menzies as an audit partner, forming part of the leadership team in the firm’s newly opened Gatwick office, with more than two decades of experience in senior roles at top 10 and mid-tier firms.

On the new arrivals, Massey added, “What’s important is that this growth doesn’t dilute how we work. A partner-led approach remains central to Menzies’ operation, and these appointments ensure that clients continue to benefit from direct access to senior expertise. As we expand our reach and services, this combination of capability and close client relationships will be key to how we move forward with confidence.”

These appointments build on Menzies’ continued growth trajectory, following the recent opening of its 100-person Gatwick office, its merger with Beever and Struthers, and its acquisition of ESG specialists Grain Sustainability in October.

Founded in 1912, Menzies is headquartered in London with coverage nationally in England & Wales and has a turnover of £110 million. The firm’s 1,100 employees service mid-size and large privately held corporates, not-for-profit, and individuals, across the UK and in 157 countries globally, through Menzies membership of advisory and accounting network HLB.
