Earlier today we wrote extensively about Xbox leadership’s inability to stop speaking, and lo and behold, here’s another interview.
That’s right, fresh from incoming CEO Asha Sharma’s address to the nation earlier this week – in which she confirmed the company is “re-evaluating” its approach to exclusivity – she added that it’s too early to say much more right now.
Speaking with journalist Stephen Totilo’s GameFile, she explained:
“We’ll take a data-driven approach and a strategic-driven approach, and then we’ll look at our principles and we’ll make some calls. So we’ll share more when we’re ready.”
Pushed for a timeline, she noted she doesn’t want to rush “long-swinging decisions that have [a] decade-long impact” and she’s “not ready to commit to” a specific window. She reminded Totilo she’s only been in the job for around 60 days.
It raises the question: why do the interview in the first place?
As a reminder, Microsoft overlord Satya Nadella has repeated on multiple occasions that “we’re going to be everywhere, on every platform”. Halo Studios confirmed little more than six months ago that Master Chief will be on PS5 for the foreseeable future.
The plan’s the plan until it’s not the plan, eh?
We assume it’s going to take Sharma several months to come to any kind of conclusion on all this, which means the likes of Fable and Forza Horizon 6 should still release as scheduled.
We’ve no doubt there’ll be one or two (or 28) interviews to come before she settles on a conclusion, though.
