Man dies after assault by co-tenant in Shillong; accused arrested for murder

Shillong, Apr 26: A 40-year-old man died after allegedly being assaulted by his co-tenant in Mawblei on Saturday morning, police said.

The incident occurred at around 8 am today when one Sumeet Kr Singha (40) of Mawblei was allegedly assaulted by Sanjay Kumar (42), a co-tenant inside the building, using a No Parking board.

Police said the alleged assault stemmed from a dispute after the victim suspected Sanjay Kumar of having an affair with his wife which led to an argument and a fight.

Singha was rushed to Supercare Hospital but was declared brought dead on arrival.

“The accused is arrested and a case of murder registered,” police added.

Further investigation is underway.
