EverQuest Legends’ beta may be underway, but only for a small number of people so far, and it’s all tucked behind strict NDAs. But Game Jawn and Daybreak still want to get some of the hype moving anyway, which is no doubt why this weekend the studios released a new video, this one covering the updated throwback MMO’s “exaltation” system.
Senior Engineer Sean Norton has popped out his whip-toting level 50 Warrior/Shaman/Wizard (hah) to demonstrate: The system essentially allows players to merge the focus effects, proc effects, and even ornamentation appearances of one piece of gear into the slots of another item.
It’s pretty granular, and it’s a strategy system that’s going to look fairly familiar to fans of MMOs and OARPGs that let you combine uniques. If nothing else, it’s a clear look into the visuals and UI of the new game – plus a walk down memory lane as Norton is rolling around with Ykeshas. In fact, there’s even a warning that one of his items – the Glowing Black Sword – won’t be in the game at launch.
