Oba Femi has spoken about how his church community in Lagos helped him move to the United States and begin his journey to becoming a WWE star.
The wrestler, whose real name is Isaac Odugbesan, made this known during an interview with Stephanie McMahon on the What’s Your Story? podcast.
Before becoming one of WWE’s rising stars, Oba Femi said life was difficult for him in Lagos and he faced challenges at home.
The former University of Lagos student explained that his church, Grace Assembly, and his pastor, Femi Paul, played a major role in supporting him financially and emotionally.
“My pastor was a very respectable man,” Femi said. “When there were problems between me and my dad, he would step in and advise me.”
The WWE star said members of the church came together to raise money to help him travel to America.
“As a matter of fact, my entire church community came together to raise money when I was coming over to the States. Shout out to Grace Assembly,” he said.
Femi also said Pastor Paul taught him important values, including respecting his parents and staying focused in life.
“He told me never to disrespect my parents. Femi Paul was a huge inspiration for me,” he added.
The Lagos-born wrestler is currently enjoying a strong rise in WWE after several impressive performances. His recent victory over Brock Lesnar has further increased his popularity in the wrestling world.
Oba Femi has now become one of the fastest-rising stars in WWE, with many fans praising his strength, confidence and performances in the ring.
Despite his growing fame, the Nigerian star said he still remembers the support and sacrifices made by his church community back in Lagos.
