KidsOut picked for annual charity partnership at Capco

Capco has announced a new charity partnership with UK non-profit KidsOut. The organisation supports children who have faced challenging and often traumatic experiences, including those living in refuge and safe accommodation.

In 1990, Lady Grantchester, of the Moore’s family and owners of Littlewoods, suggested to the Rotary Club in Kingston that they take disadvantaged children on a day out. She approached Peter Jarvis who, together with fellow Rotarians Graham Child and John Saxton, devised and promoted the concept of KidsOut.

A deal was struck, and in 1990 the Kingston Rotary Club and Kingston Littlewoods store organised an outing for 200 children to go to Thorpe Park. The day was so successful that Lady Grantchester offered a one-off grant to any Rotary Club willing to take part in a similar event on the second Wednesday in June. Overnight 800 Rotary Clubs from all over the UK joined in and the National Rotary KidsOut Day was created. It immediately became the biggest single outing for disadvantaged children in the UK, with tens of thousands of children taken out each year.

In the 36 years since, the charity has continued to create positive, happy memories for these children through a range of initiatives, from fun days out and experiences to providing essential items and support for those starting over in new environments. Their mission remains “giving children the chance to feel like children again”.

Capco has been working with KidsOut in the UK via its annual participation in the KidsOut’s Giving Tree initiative, which involves bringing in toys at Christmas to help make the festive season a little brighter for children across the UK. Now, however, the consultancy has decided to take its support to the next level – naming the organisation as its official charity partnership for the year ahead.

A statement from Capco read, “[The Giving Tree initiative] proved very popular in our London office, so we’re delighted to now deepen our partnership, with our UK teams getting stuck in across a range of activities, from volunteering at the KidsOut warehouse in Luton to fundraising and taking on sporting challenges. It’s a great opportunity for our people to come together, give back, and make a real difference.”

KidsOut added, “We’re delighted to announce Capco as a new partner. Following the success of our Giving Tree campaign at their offices in recent years, the team reached out to see how else they could support our work – and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead. Together, we’ve explored a range of opportunities and agreed on a brilliant mix: volunteering at our warehouse, creative fundraising initiatives, and sponsored challenges including the iconic Yorkshire Three Peaks. We can’t wait to get started.”
