The soundtrack in Mixtape is utterly essential to the experience, as the selected tracks are part of the dialogue spoken by protagonist Stacey, as she curates the mixtape for you. The developer is so committed to this that the game doesn’t include a streamer mode, which would replace the licensed music with something to help online content creators avoid copyright strikes.
It’s good to hear a PS5 game as special as Mixtape won’t have to fear delisting because of its fantastic soundtrack in the future. As we said in our Mixtape PS5 review, which concluded with a 9/10 score, it’s “beautiful to look at, a joy to listen to, and so enjoyable to play — altogether, Mixtape is a sensational achievement”.
You simply have to play it, as one of the PS5’s best games of 2026 so far.
