Nancy Guthrie has been missing for over 100 days, and the sheriff investigating her disappearance says he’s no longer in direct contact with her family, including daughter Savannah Guthrie.

Nancy Guthrie has been missing since February 2026, and as the search passes the three-month mark, concern across Arizonians continues to grow.

According to a new report from PEOPLE, Chris Nanos, the Pima County sheriff, said he’s no longer speaking with Nancy’s family, which includes her famous daughter, Savannah.

“I personally am not,” Nanos told the outlet after speaking about the search for the missing 84-year-old. “If they need the family for anything, they get in touch with them and the family. It works both ways.”

Nanos’ comments differ significantly from what he previously told PEOPLE in February following her disappearance.

At the time, he revealed that he had been speaking with Savannah on the phone and via text message. Despite that, he hadn’t been “face-to-face” with the “Today Show” personality. “She’s got a lot on her plate. The FBI and my detectives and those, they’ve been talking with her face-to-face. She doesn’t need to talk to me,” he said.

Nancy was reported missing on February 1, 2026, by concerned family and friends. According to ABC News, the 84-year-old took an Uber to her other daughter’s home for dinner and returned home around 9:48 PM.

Hours later, Nancy’s doorbell camera was disconnected, and authorities released images of a masked individual who appeared to be tampering with property on Nancy’s front porch.

At the time, Nanos told the public that his department didn’t believe Nancy left her home willingly, but rather was taken against her will. “She did not leave on her own, we know that,” he said.

Days after Nancy’s disappearance, multiple media outlets reported that they received ransom letters demanding a specific amount in bitcoin for Nancy’s return.

On February 5, 2026, Savannah shared an emotional video on her social media, revealing that she and her family were willing to pay but needed to hear from their mother first.

“We need you to reach out, and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward. But first, we have to know that you have our mom. We want to talk to you, and we are waiting for contact,” she said.

More than a month later, on March 22, Savannah shared another moving message online and asked her followers and members of the Arizona community to keep an eye out for her mother.

“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring from neighbors, friends, and the people of Tucson. We are all family now,” she said before saying that “someone knows something” about her mother’s whereabouts.

Savannah went on to encourage people to scrub their memories for any bit of information that could help point investigators in the right direction.

“We miss our mom with every breath, and we cannot be at peace until she is home,” she said. “We want to celebrate her beautiful and courageous life, but we cannot do that until she is brought to a final place of rest.”

As the search for Nancy continues, those closest to her have expressed concern that the public will soon forget her.

According to a previous report from The Blast, Lauren Serpa, Nancy’s friend of over 10 years, said that even people in the Tucson area have started shifting their focus toward other things.

“People are starting to move on, basically. That’s what happens when it doesn’t affect their lives,” she said. “So that’s why I’m trying to keep it in the forefront as much as possible.”

Continuing, Serpa said something similar to Savannah, reminding people to stay alert.

“It’s really important that it’s in the back of their head all the time in case they do see something or they hear somebody say something, you know, out of their eyesight,” she said. “Then they can report it. But, you know, if they’re not thinking about it, then they wouldn’t even think about anything that somebody would say.”

Serpa asked people to pay “attention to their surroundings” and to listen intently “to what people are saying [who] are standing behind you.”

“Those are the kind of things that are going to make the difference in this case, I think,” she finished.
