Mott MacDonald secures role on Scottish local authority framework

Mott MacDonald has been appointed to the Scotland Excel Engineering and Technical Consultancy Framework. The firm has secured a place on eight service lots on the renewed national framework for Scottish local authorities, placing first in five.

The Scotland Excel Engineering and Technical Consultancy Framework (SETCF) is a four-year framework running until 2030, with an estimated value of £160 million. It aims to help all 32 Scottish local authorities and over 90 public sector bodies to access engineering and technical consultancy services quickly, while ensuring value for money.

When called upon, organisations can now be supported by Mott MacDonald’s locally based teams spread across five Scottish offices. Looking ahead, the firm will help deliver infrastructure and asset investment aligned with Scotland’s Infrastructure Investment Plan, National Transport Strategy 2 and climate adaptation priorities.

Alan Hendry, Mott MacDonald’s sustainability lead, UK and Europe, and Glasgow city lead, said, “The Scotland Excel framework is a vital route for councils to access high-quality engineering and technical support at a time of significant infrastructure challenge.”

The appointment builds on Mott MacDonald’s longstanding relationships with Scottish local authorities, having been reappointed to successive iterations of the SETCF. Through the framework, it has supported Councils across Scotland on transport planning, flood risk management, bridges and transport structures, coastal and maritime infrastructure and wider infrastructure planning and delivery.

This has included work for City of Edinburgh Council across bridges, drainage and flood management, and support to Shetland Islands Council on the Fair Isle Ferry Terminal, progressing the project from business case to onsite delivery.

Hendry concluded, “With the widest geographic footprint of any major engineering consultancy in Scotland, including five offices from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen through to Inverness and Lerwick, our teams are ideally placed to understand and deliver local priorities. We’re pleased to continue supporting councils to deliver resilient, sustainable infrastructure that responds to local needs.”
