Baramulla, June 10, 2026: In its continued efforts to curb unlawful activities and maintain public order, Baramulla Police apprehended nine individuals involved in gambling during a swift operation conducted by Police Station Tangmarg.
Acting on credible information regarding gambling activities near Shajimarg Crossing, a police team immediately rushed to the location and found several persons engaged in card gambling. On noticing the police party, the individuals attempted to flee from the spot but were tactfully apprehended.
The arrested persons have been identified as residents of Qazipora, Katipora and Chanpora areas of Tangmarg.
During the operation, cash amounting to ₹19,410 was recovered from the spot and seized as evidence.
In this connection, FIR No. 49/2026 under Section 13 of the Gambling Act has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg and investigation has been taken up.
Baramulla Police reiterates its commitment to taking strict action against all forms of illegal activities and urges citizens to cooperate with police by sharing information related to crime and public nuisance.
