
It’s hot here in France. The country’s weather service expects the current heatwave to be “widespread, prolonged and intense”, with temperatures in some areas potentially topping 40 degrees Celsius. Paris will still hold its Fete de la Musique celebrations, but local officials in other regions have cancelled the event.

Paris Saint Germain football star Achraf Hakimi will stand trial in a rape case here in France after an appeals court said there were sufficient evidence to move forward. He was accused of raping a 24-year-old woman in his home, in March 2023, allegations he has denied.
It was a partnership beset by controversy, and now it’s over. Department store BHV is breaking up with Chinese-founded retailer Shein, after new management came in to take over the beleaguered Parisian icon.
Plus, the Pont Neuf Cavern – an artwork by French street artist JR – sometimes refered to as the French Banksy, is now open to visitors in Paris. The installation transforms Paris’ oldest bridge into an artificial cavern, through a visual, auditory and olfactory experience.
