Kyle Pitts doesn’t appear to be going anywhere.
The Atlanta Falcons plan to use the franchise tag on the star tight end, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Monday.
Pitts, who was selected fourth overall in the 2021 draft, is coming off a career season, playing all 17 games while hauling in 88 catches for 928 yards and five touchdowns.
Both the catch and touchdown totals marked career highs, while the yardage was less than 100 fewer than his rookie season when he caught passes from Matt Ryan. The QB now serves as Atlanta’s president of football.
In between those two seasons, however, Pitts struggled to live up to his draft hype amid injury.
Now, Ryan and the Falcons seem to be betting that 2025 was truer to Pitts’ true form.
The franchise tag for tight ends is worth $16 million.
