Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates, Tuesday, April 21, 2026: The Nifty50 and the Sensex opened higher, tracking gains in its Asian peers amid rising hopes that the US and Iran may reach a resolution before the ceasefire deadline expires. The Nifty50 was trading 0.55 per cent or 130 points higher at 24,494, and the Sensex was trading 0.63 per cent or 494 points higher at 79,000. The Nifty India Volatility Index fell 4 per cent to 18.04. JSW Steel, Axis Bank, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, and NTPC were the top gainers in the Nifty50 index. Broader markets outperformed benchmark indices. The Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap were trading 0.80 per cent and 0.92 per cent higher, respectively. Sector-wise, the Nifty Realty, the Nifty PSU Bank, and the Nifty Media outperformed. Meanwhile, the Nifty IT and the Nifty Pharma underperformed.
Before his statement, US President Donald Trump threatened that a lot of bombs would start going off if no agreement is reached before the ceasefire deadline expires, later today.

Citius Transnet InvIT’s initial public offer will enter its final day of subscription. The company aims to raise ₹1,105 crore from the primary market. The IPO was subscribed 1.3 times on the second day.
Similarly, Mehul Telecom IPO will also enter the final day of subscription. It’s a book-build issue worth ₹27.73 crore. The issue was subscribed 9.91 times.
