Education, just like business, is ultimately shaped from the top down. The more focused on student and faculty success a principal is, the more successful the students will be.

It’s somewhat rare to hear positive things about the educational trends in the United States. There are many, many problems. Schools are underfunded and understaffed. Students are falling behind in math and reading, and there are no immediate signs that things are set to improve. That said, context is important. The pandemic may have ended five years ago, but the world of education is still feeling its ramifications. There are kids graduating from grade school this May who have spent nearly two years in a state of academic uncertainty. That’s tremendously hard to overcome. Despite all the challenges, educational systems are constantly improving through data, pedagogy, and goodwill. Educators care immensely about what they do. This passion is ultimately more valuable than any of the other resources we’ve described. There is hardship, of course, but that doesn’t mean things aren’t improving.
