SHILLONG, APR 10: Chairman of the Meghalaya State Health Advisory Board (MSHAB) and MLA from Nongpoh Mayral Born Syiem on Thursday met with weavers from Umling CRD block and officials from the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA) and the Textile Department to address pending issues related to the CM Elevate Program.
“We have clarified that each beneficiary will receive Rs 78,000, with Rs 15,000 as a loan component and a 5% contribution from the beneficiary,” Syiem told reporters.

“The moratorium period is one year, and the loan has to be repaid within 7 years.”
Syiem assured that necessary equipment and working capital would be delivered to the beneficiaries soon.
“The working capital will be credited to their account within three weeks, and the equipment, including frame looms, will be supplied within three months,” he said.
The meeting addressed concerns of 250 individual and group beneficiaries from Ri-Bhoi district who had applied for assistance under the CM Elevate Program in 2024.
“We have discussed with a vendor to supply 250 frame looms,” Syiem added.
Syiem attributed the delay to technical issues and assured that other initiatives by the Textile Department, such as sericulture and handloom support, were available to weavers.
“We called this meeting to sort out the issues and ensure the weavers avail the benefits,” he said.
