The country’s electronics imports have crossed the USD 100 billion mark in 2025-26, according to the Commerce Ministry data.
It grew by 17.76 per cent to USD 116.17 billion in 2025-26 against USD 98.65 billion in the preceding fiscal.
Commenting on the data, think tank GTRI said India’s high electronics imports highlight the country’s continued dependence on imported semiconductors, components and electronic equipment despite its manufacturing push.
Electronics exports also climbed 24.7 per cent to USD 48.0 billion, helped by smartphone shipments, but remained far below imports.
