This week’s New Moon takes place in fire sign Aries on April 17 and it’s a powerhouse charge of planets in Aries.
Not only are the Sun and Moon in Aries but Mercury (communication), Mars (anger/passion), Saturn (authority), Neptune (dissolution) and Chiron (wounded healer) are all in the first star sign (see chart below).
Ready Set Go
A New Moon in Aries is always a surge of energy. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and, combined with the New Moon, this is the creative spark, full on and forceful.
This New Moon falls at 27° Aries towards the end of the star sign, as the Sun is preparing to move into earth sign Taurus at the beginning of next week.
You may find it hard to hold back now, especially if you have Aries planets or angles in your birth chart. You might have to be direct and honest, put yourself and your own needs first. It’s a ‘leap before you look’ combination.
Whether you’re acting or reacting for yourself or the good of others, set off on a new path, be bold, start a march, start protesting.

Mars Dominates
I’ve put the chart for this New Moon at the bottom of this blog post as it’s important to see how much planetary activity is in Aries. Mars is the dispositor of all the Aries planets and, therefore, extra strong and, as we know, Mars is God of war.
Right now, the world is teetering on the edge of a world war and it’s hard to know what can happen to stop certain leaders behaving recklessly and dangerously and bringing more violence and destruction to our fellow human beings and our beautiful planet.
However, as some leaders are being triggered by the negative side of Aries, it’s heartening to hear Pope Leo remind our leaders of what they’re really doing and using his position to criticise those who use God to justify war. This is a symbol of Saturn and Neptune working together and how they can represent a person of faith.
During this New Moon in Aries, let’s not create more victims of war (Chiron Aries) and use the positive Aries energy to channel anger into a constructive and positive outlet.
When in doubt, do something. One of Aries’ archetypes is the white knight who takes action to defend the underdog.
