Peter Chapman has been announced as the new managing partner of Buzzacott, effective from October 2026. The appointment comes as the consultancy reaffirms its commitment to providing independent advisory services to clients around the world.
With 57 partners, more than 600 people and revenues of £90 million, Buzzacott is a London-based firm which supports businesses, individuals, and not-for-profits with audit, tax, financial planning, corporate finance, and business services. And while a difficult couple of years for the UK professional services sector as a whole has seen the number of deals aimed at obtaining financial security rise among mid-tier players, Buzzacott confirmed in 2025 that it had no such plans – launching a refreshed brand to reflect its continued independence.
Now, the accountancy and advisory firm has announced further plans to preserve its status as a standalone player in the market – with the announcement of a key succession plan for its top job. After eight years of leadership, Tony Hopson will step down as managing partner of Buzzacott – and while he will remain a partner in the firm’s UK/US tax team, the firm will take on a new head from October.
The departing managing partner commented, “This change comes at an important moment in the profession. While many firms are choosing to consolidate, we remain committed to staying independent. It allows us to make our own decisions, preserve what matters most about the firm and to keep taking a long-term view. Peter is the right person to lead us through the next phase of our development.”
After a period of transition, Peter Chapman will succeed Hopson – having himself played a significant role in the firm’s direction and growth for the past 15 years. As well as heading up the firm’s highly successful corporate assurance team, Chapman has been a longstanding member of Buzzacott’s executive committee, and has taken on several key leadership responsibilities, including acting as the firm’s audit compliance principal and practice assurance principal.
Speaking on his promotion, Chapman added, “It is a privilege to take on the role of Managing Partner at Buzzacott.
