Cognizant has today announced a new phase in its partnership with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, taking on the role of global AI services partner. The companies have worked together for six years, and the consultancy says this update reflects a more focused remit around applying AI across the team’s operations.
A British independent manufacturer of luxury sports cars and grand tourers, Aston Martin is an iconic automotive brand has a far less prestigious history in motorsport. Founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, between 1959 and 1960 the brand’s first open-wheel racing car – the DBR4 – famously failed to accrue a single point in either Formula 1 campaign. The team would not re-enter the arena for another 60 years.
All that changed in 2021, with the news that Aston Martin was returning to Formula 1 for the 2021 World Championship – following a commercial rebranding of Racing Point UK’s Racing Point F1 Team. The result of a funding investment from Racing Point owner Lawrence Stroll, the move initially saw the team’s vehicles manned by four-time World Drivers’ Champion Sebastian Vettel, alongside other driver Lance Stroll – son of the team’s owner.
In 2023, with former champion Fernando Alonso taking over from Vettel, he and Stroll saw Aston Martin to a respectable fifth-place finish – and the team is currently competing again for the 2026/27 season. At the heart of that journey has been consulting firm Cognizant – which has been a title sponsor for Aston Martin over the last six years. And now, the team and the company have deepened that relationship, with the news that Cognizant is now the global AI services partner of Aston Martin’s F1 team.
“Formula 1 represents the ultimate test bed for applied AI – where real time decisions drive outcomes that are measured in milliseconds,” said Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S. “Our designation as Global AI Services Partner reflects our commitment to moving beyond AI potential to AI performance, helping organizations translate cutting-edge innovation into measurable returns and realized business value.”
Cognizant’s global expertise in AI engineering, cloud, data platforms, and digital operations will help the team accelerate insight-to-action across complex, high-performance environments. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to applying AI responsibly and effectively at enterprise scale, where speed, precision, and outcomes matter most. While ARAMCO will take on the name sponsorship, together, the organisations will continue to collaborate on innovation initiatives that reflect Formula 1’s evolution as a platform for advanced digital and data transformation.
“Cognizant brings us expertise that aligns with how we operate as a modern Formula 1 team, in an environment that is data-heavy and highly competitive, just like many of their clients in other industries,” said Jefferson Slack, managing director commercial and marketing at Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. “This expanded partnership strengthens our ability to turn complex data into actionable insight and performance on and off the track.”
