EY has strengthened its Midlands practice with two partner appointments. Tony King joins in data risk and AI within the technology risk practice, while Kris Aspin will lead the Midlands restructuring practice.
Adrian Roberts, EY’s managing partner for the Midlands, said, “Tony and Kris’s appointments mark a significant investment in our Midlands practice. Tony’s experience in helping public sector and healthcare clients manage data and risk, combined with Kris’s track record in leading complex restructuring situations and his credentials as an insolvency practitioner, will be invaluable as we support clients across the region.”
“Their arrivals strengthen our ability to help organisations address risk and performance challenges in an increasingly complex environment, and I am delighted to welcome them both to the team.”
Tony King brings 23 years of professional services experience to the position. A former Deloitte partner for the last decade, in his previous role, he built a data risk and AI practice from its start up phase into a national team of more than 40 people, delivering revenues exceeding £10 million across the UK.
In his new role at EY, he will focus on enabling clients to have confidence in their data – ensuring it is high quality and accessible to those who need it – while also helping them unlock greater value from their information through AI driven solutions for more confident decision making.
King commented, “I am delighted to join the Midlands team at such a pivotal time for our clients. Public sector and healthcare organisations are under pressure to deliver better outcomes with constrained resources, and data and AI are central to that challenge. The collaborative culture across EY teams, the breadth of expertise and the investment in data, AI and alliance partners means we are exceptionally well placed to support clients nationally and internationally, while creating new opportunities for our people as the team grows.”
Kris Aspin moves across the organisation from EY’s Edinburgh office. An experienced restructuring partner with extensive regional and national market experience, he has spent 15 years working for EY across Scotland and in Manchester, advising on some of the firm’s largest financial restructuring situations, as well as a broad range of mid-market engagements. He is particularly experienced in the industrials and energy sectors.
Looking ahead, he will head up the Midlands restructuring practice, strengthening its strong turnaround and insolvency offering and working closely with colleagues across the UK to support clients facing financial stress.
Aspin added, “The Midlands is home to many of the UK’s most well-known industrial, automotive and advanced manufacturing businesses, and they are operating in a period of significant change. Having worked across Scotland and the North of England, I recognise how important it is for clients to have access to experienced restructuring and insolvency support within their local market.”
“My focus will be on building long term relationships with management teams, lenders and other stakeholders across the Midlands, helping organisations address challenges early and put proactive solutions in place; while ensuring we bring the full strength of our UK and global network to support businesses as they adapt and move forward.”
