Natasha Ogden on her decade shaping Mosaic Island’s growth and culture

2026 marks a year of double milestones for Mosaic Island. As the firm celebrates its 20th anniversary, Director Natasha Ogden also marks her own 10-year milestone with the company. She sits with Consultancy.uk to reflect on her journey – and explores how the firm’s people-centric culture has powered its success.

Founded in 2006, Mosaic Island is a consultancy firm specialising in digital business transformation, IT architecture, and the delivery of complex technology programmes for blue-chip clients. From its offices in London and Bristol, the firm supports organisations across sectors including consumer goods, automotive, healthcare, insurance and transport.

Natasha Ogden joined the firm in December 2015, initially focusing on workforce strategy and talent acquisition. From the outset, her role centred on ensuring the right fit between individuals and the organisation – placing “the right people in the right place, at the right time.”

As the firm expanded, so too did her remit. She was later appointed Director of Commercial and People, taking on responsibility for both the firm’s growth agenda and its talent strategy, aligning commercial performance with hiring, development and culture.

“Looking back, it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey,” says Ogden, having just passed the 10-year milestone with the firm herself. “Mosaic Island has grown so much in terms of our service offering and client reputation, but all while still staying true to its core values and culture.”

People-centric culture

That culture, she explains, has been deliberately designed. Mosaic Island operates as a collaborative, values-led and people-first consultancy, combining a team-first mindset with a pragmatic focus on solving real client problems, all within a modern working environment centred on flexibility, trust and wellbeing.

In an industry where people are at the heart of the business – and competition for talent is intense – nurturing this culture has proven to be a self-reinforcing investment. “Shaping our culture and carefully maintaining it has been central to establishing Mosaic Island as an employer of choice in the industry,” says Ogden.

A core part of Mosaic Island’s employee value proposition is fostering a supportive environment, where “people look out for one another, our leadership team is highly accessible, and success is collective and shared.”

The firm offers opportunities to continue learning beyond graduation – something which has long been part of the consulting sector’s allure for professionals at every stage of their careers.

“We take a very personalised approach to learning and development,” Ogden notes. “Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, we work with our people to understand their aspirations and tailor development plans accordingly. This includes on-the-job learning through diverse client engagements, access to mentoring, as well as formal training where needed.”

Mosaic Island also encourages knowledge sharing across the firm, creating opportunities for people to learn from one another’s experiences. The goal is to support continuous growth, both professionally and personally – something Ogden herself has valued since joining.

“Personally, it’s been a decade of constant learning – working with inspiring colleagues, solving complex client challenges, and helping to shape the direction of the business. It’s rare to find a place where you can grow alongside the organisation in such a meaningful way.”

Taken together, she adds, “Our culture is at the heart of everything we do. Individuals here are empowered to take ownership of their work and their careers, supported by a leadership team that is highly approachable. That combination of autonomy, support and purpose is what makes Mosaic Island a place where people choose to stay and build their careers.”

Senior-led model with a boutique’s agility

This people-centric culture is not only an internal strength; it is also a key driver of client success. Mosaic Island has built a strong reputation for long-standing relationships and a high proportion of repeat business, underpinned by consistent delivery and trust.

That has helped the firm achieve award-winning status. In rankings by both the Financial Times and Consultancy.org, Mosaic Island is recognised among the leading management consultancies. In its core areas of expertise – including IT architecture and complex IT delivery – the firm is also ranked among the industry’s frontrunners.

Asked what underpins this, Ogden points to two key factors.

First is senior expertise, with consultants who bring both deep experience and a proven track record to client engagements. Unlike many larger firms that operate a well-known ‘pyramid’ model, Mosaic Island is structured around senior-led teams. “Clients consistently tell us that what keeps them coming back is our combination of deep expertise and a genuinely human approach. They value that we can bring senior expertise directly into engagements, delivering measurable results.”

Underpinning all client work is a strong ethical foundation, with a clear emphasis on integrity, inclusivity and responsible business practices. “Especially in today’s AI-driven world, clients place strong emphasis on trust, collaboration, and a focus on genuine outcomes.”

Over a decade in which the industry’s giants have continued to grow and a wave of consolidation has reshaped the consulting mid-market (often driven by private equity), Mosaic Island has remained true to its independent and boutique positioning. According to Ogden, this positioning helps the firm stand out in the sector, both as an adviser and as an employer.

“Our boutique model enables us to be highly focused, flexible and personal in our approach – bringing together experienced professionals relevant to each project quickly, without having to move through layers of commercial hierarchy when assembling a team.”

“For clients, that means direct access to expertise and a more tailored, responsive service. We take the time to understand their business, their challenges and their ambitions – and act as trusted partners rather than just suppliers. And at the same time, they also value the flexibility we provide, the shoulder-to-shoulder way of working, and the personal, long-standing relationships we build.”

For the firm’s people, meanwhile, the boutique model brings greater closeness, visibility, impact, and the opportunity to shape outcomes. “In a market often dominated by scale, our differentiation comes from depth, quality and authenticity,” she notes.

Looking ahead

As Ogden enters her second decade at the consultancy, she sees the consulting landscape undergoing significant transformation, driven in large part by the rapid rise of artificial intelligence. The technology – already used by more than eight in ten consultants on a daily basis and increasingly embedded into both delivery and operations – is set to reshape traditional consulting models.

Pessimists argue that this shift could endanger the future of the industry, putting pressure on billing models, reducing demand for consulting hires, and displacing junior roles as smarter machines take on more routine work. “Every consulting firm will need to embrace AI in a smart way and navigate the challenges ahead,” notes Ogden.

While this brings clear challenges, she adds, it also creates significant opportunity. For Mosaic Island, adapting to this shift is already a priority, with AI firmly on the agenda for the coming years.

Yet amid this wave of technological change, Ogden is clear that the essence of consulting will remain unchanged. “People will remain at the heart of the industry – and of Mosaic Island’s own future.”

“Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue being part of Mosaic Island’s journey, while staying true to what makes us unique,” she concludes. “The landscape of consulting and complex IT change is becoming increasingly dynamic. Being able to help our clients navigate that complexity – and doing so with such a strong team – is what I’m most looking forward to.”
